Polymer Phases:
· Offers domestically based products whose prices and availability are not affected by variation in crude oil prices or potential disruption of supplies from offshore,
· Reduces the carbon footprint of the industries that use them , and
· Provides renewable materials with lower toxicity profiles than their petroleum-based competitors.

Also, Polymer Phases plays an important societal role, offering safer products with a reduced carbon footprint. Polymer Phases’ initial products use glycerol, an abundant byproduct of biodiesel production, as a key raw material.  This improves the economic viability of biodiesel as a renewable energy source.

Oligomers

GreenPhaseTM UV-101

101 is the most hydrophilic member of Polymer Phases' line of UV curable sustainable polyester oligomers. GreenPhaseTM UV-101 is a 75% sustainable product. The product is compatible with Sartomer SR-454 monomer.  These resins may be cross-linked via Mercury Lamp or LED UV Lamps.  Selection of initiator should be made consistent with lamp selection, film thickness, and whether or not a pigment is included in the formulation.  If an OPV of GreenPhaseTM UV-101 and Sartomer SR-454 is made, the film will exhibit high gloss (gloss above 89 measured at 60° angle) and excellent distinctness of image (DOI)), good flexibility, and good resistance to methyl ethyl ketone.  The GreenPhaseTM UV-101 and Sartomer SR-454 OPV UV cured film has 18 hour spot resistance to water, soap, ethanol, and acetone.

This formulation yields a ~300 cps viscosity.  When drawndown with a 3 ww rod and cured, the film gloss is >89 when read by a 60° angle gloss meter.

At slightly elevated temperatures, GreenPhaseTM UV-101pmn is very fluid.  Even at room temperature, the thick liquid is pourable.

Green PhaseTM UV-201pmn  

201pmn is an intermediate hydrophilicity member of Polymer Phases' line of UV curable sustainable polyester oligomers. Green PhaseTM UV-201 is a 100% sustainable product. The product is compatible with Sartomer SR-454 monomer.  These resins may be cross-linked via Mercury Lamp or LED UV Lamps.  Selection of initiator should be made consistent with lamp selection, film thickness, and whether or not a pigment is included in the formulation.  If an OPV of Green PhaseTM UV-201 and Sartomer SR-454 is made, the film will exhibit high gloss (gloss above 89 measured at 60° angle) and excellent distinctness of image (DOI)), good flexibility, good resistance to methyl ethyl ketone and acetone. These tests were performed on a nitrocellulose coated Leneta chart, used as provided. The formulation also exhibits good adhesion to PET and Mylar films.

Custom Synthesis

Polymer Phases, Inc. has laboratory facilities where gram to kilogram quantities of polymeric materials can be prepared to your specifications. We can also work with our clients to develop a material that fits their needs. Capabilities include addition polymerization (including but not limited to styrenic and acrylic resins) as well as condensation polymerization (including but not limited to polyesters and polyamides). These reactions can be performed in bulk, suspension or emulsion mode.
